This project evolved when the owners of a 1900’s property contacted Greendawn Build with the desire to extend their loft alongside a full refurbishment of their first floor. As we see with many of our clients in West London, this family wanted to develop a modern living space retreat without having to move to another property or indeed loose any of the buildings original and beautiful Edwardian features. The children had grown and left home and it was time for the house to adapt to it’s new environment with space at the forefront of the clients mind. With this on board and with all our projects, we planned in fine detail with the client in order to deliver a bespoke and personal service. High on the list of priorities was to reuse as many existing materials as possible and where this wasn’t achievable to source sustainable materials of the highest standard.
This build required full construction of the loft space including re-roofing, rebuilding chimney stacks, installing an ensuite bathroom, plastering, painting and decorating, electrical and plumbing work plus the installation of a solid oak staircase. Our clients are now enjoying a beautifully crafted ‘retreat’ space used as an office, library, sitting room, guest room and more importantly a tranquil escape space to be lived in and enjoyed.
